Interior LIfe On The Road

Interior Life as a Nomad.
Many thoughts of course in transit, especially traveling in trains, lsss moments to write about them,  One thought predominates: Wherever you go, there you always are, home away from home.
Of course more so in this case, as Italy has been a real home to me on many occasions.
Arriving in Lecce Salento, a week ago today, there really was a sense of AHH I'm home. A baroque city small enough to navigate on foot where I livedt 6 months 2 years ago. Here I stayed at my friend Luciana's bed and breakfast (see photo) rustic chic interiors suited me perfectly
Now I'm in the heel of the boot, Santa Maria Di Leuca.
A wonderful stay at my dear friend, Paola's hotel, www.iltabacchificio.com stay tuned....

Holidays in Modern Architecture

This might be a good reason to pack a bag and leave home, a holiday with Peter Zumthor or 4 of the world's other world class modern architects.

Masterminded by philosopher Alain De Botton, while writing an article on how the quality of environment can impact our happiness,  Living Architecture was born and today opens its doors. 5 homes designed by  Zumthor, Michael and Patty Hopkins, MVRDV, JVA and NORD available  for holiday or short term rent in the UK.

Now you can live, sleep, eat in a space  designed by an outstanding architectural practice.

Welcome

Interior Lives was originally a coffee table book.
An epiphany at an Elle Decor party during West Week over champagne and, more importantly, over five years ago. It was a good idea. Photographer, Tim Street Porter, who I was with at the time, said so!

A collection of photographs and interviews with famous people - yes, those bad pennies - set in their home in a cinema verite style. Think an unmade bed perhaps with leftover body imprint, reminders to pick up the kids or buy parmigiana on the kitchen blackboard, last night's unwashed wine glasses or clothes strewn on the bathrrom floor. The idea, of course, was to show something real, personal and telling. However it languished on my computer and five years later a book along similar lines is moments from being published.

But, the smart, suggestive, little title won't die.
Interior Lives explores ANYTHING that happens inside four walls, from the fluffiest decorating or lifestyle item to the more profound Interior Life you catch glimpses of in the sideview mirror, or yearn for from the edge of your yoga mat. Interior Lives. Get real and ROLL with us...
